Flood Insurance

Most homeowners policies do NOT cover losses due to flood. Flood insurance, available through our office, is provided by the Federal Government and available to home and business owners. It is important to note that homeowners insurance is designed to bring your home and its contents back to the same condition it was in before a loss, yet flood insurance is only meant to get you back on your feet.

According to the National Flood Insurance Program, in a high-risk area, your home has a 26% chance of being damaged by a flood during the course of a 30-year mortgage, compared to a 9% chance of fire. Floods are not limited to coastal areas or locations with nearby rivers or streams. Several inches of rain falling over a short period of time can cause flood damage, even in normally dry areas.
